SHARE-A-MEAL (SAM) is part of My Gift of Hope campaign that kicked off last November 23, which coincides Thanksgiving celebration in the US and in time for the holiday season in the Philippines.
The holidays are supposed to be a time of joy and cheer, but for the less fortunate it can be the toughest time of the year. Charity takes care of people’s physical needs, but it also does more than that. A sincere gift, given in Jesus’ name, does something in a person’s spirit. It gives them a bit of hope, shows them a bit of light, and reflects of God’s love.
Holiday season is a time for joyful celebration yet also a time of reflection. While making our holiday plans & reflecting on all we have to be thankful for, it’s also a good time to think of the less fortunate & consider to cheer those who are in need, thus this campaign was conceptualized.
A $35 (P1,700) donation can give a hearty meal to a needy child with 3-4 family members, and at the same time support our Programs. Donations are sent either through our bank account or website. Donors were asked to share a meal to more than 1 child, and also to spread the word to their family, church mates and friends.
SHARE-A-MEAL was concluded with the distribution of hearty meals to the kids in our Centers in Baseco, Manila and Payatas, Quezon City last Jan 31 and February 01 respectively. SAM made so many children happy because they had a feast with their family in their homes, which only happens once in a blue moon. The recipients of SHARE-A-MEAL made hand-made thank you cards for their Sponsors. Distribution SAM in Laguna was rescheduled on 2nd week of February due to flooded areas in some parts of the community.
Share-A-Meal served a total of 49 urban poor families from our 3 centers of HOPE.
Please support our next SHARE-A-MEAL fundraising campaign. $1=1 Nutritious Meal for orphan and vulnerable children. The goal is to raise 100,000 meals that will feed our children beneficiaries from our 6 centers of HOPE for a year.
